This one was great to do in the studio because it really hit a chord with everyone playing on it and got a couple folks weepy- it's a wonderful feeling when a song really touches someone.
You drive by real slow, with her pick up truck in tow
You wave, I wave
She’s sitting there beside you, just where I used to
She waves, I wave
But if there were a way, if I were in her place
I wouldn’t let you go
If I had my way, one more chance to say,
I love you. I loved you then, I love you still.
Down at the 5 & dime, I watch you stand in line
You wait, I wait.
You buy a Valentine, that is no longer mine
And how long will I wait?
If there were a way, if I were in her placeI wouldn’t let you go
If I had my way, one more chance to say,I love you.
I loved you then, I love you still.
You’ve got a baby now & you laugh & sigh about how
You lie awake
You’ve got a family now, it’s all I think about as
I lie awake
But if there were a way, if I were in her place I wouldn’t let you go
If I had my way, one more chance to say,I love you. I loved you then, I love you still.
You drive by real slow, with her pick up truck in tow
You wave, I wave
