Amy England: News
Amy England from Nantucket to Nashville - October 11, 2006
Nashville Sights - September 18, 2006
Nashville Sounds - September 17, 2006
Time to celebrate! Peter in Nashville now & we're eating almost every meal at the Loveless Cafe,
http://www.lovelesscafe.com/ right down the road from us. Driving the scenic Nachez Trace Pkwy, listening to new mixes of the songs, and seeing so much history by day & great music at night. It's actually hard to go anywhere here without hearing some great country or bluegrass, but also jazz, blues or classical. We're loving Music City!
Finishing up 9/12-17 - September 17, 2006
Recorded a few last vocal tracks before Bil started mixing on Tuesday night. He & wife Patricia have made me feel so welcome & eased some homesickness with kindness & fried chicken dinners. It's so beautiful here-their place is at the highest point in Nashville. It used to be the Moose Lodge, an old road house with a bar and an amazing dancehall, where folks like Patsy Cline & J.J. Cale came to sing & hang out. Feeling all that history around is quite inspiring!
Week of 11-17 - September 11, 2006
Monday got to work with first class vocalists, Angela Primm & Chip Davis. They recorded several amazing background harmonies. And really added some heartbreak to the ballads (& even got a little weepy singing them!)
And Some Fiddle! - September 10, 2006
Andy Leftwich, violin player for Ricky Skaggs and Three Ring Circle, came in today, just off the road with Ricky ( & bass player Mark Fain) to put down some fiddle tracks. Beautiful! I could listen to just the violin all day long.
(NY Jets win against TN Titans- Everyone sad, but me!)
Sept. 8-10 Recording Vocals - September 10, 2006
It's much harder work now that the guys put down all their tracks & I have to sing by myself! Singing several hours everyday, trying to bring the emotion out in the songs. Bil is wonderfully demanding & it is a joy when he finally says, "OK, good, come in & have a listen." He is not only a brilliant producer, but an amazing teacher.
Sept. 5-8 Working with Nashville's finest! - September 8, 2006
At Bil VornDick's Mountainside Studio working with wonderful musicians, Russ Barenberg (acoustic guitar), Johnny Hiland (electric guitar), Mark Fain (bass), and Bob Mater (drums). These guys are so talented and also a lot of fun to work with. Nashville weather is 85 degrees & sunny. Still like summertime down here!
Amy on Folk Alley - July 24, 2006

Happy Summer everyone!
I’ll be playing a few gigs later in the summer on & off Nantucket that I’ll let you about know soon.
Right now I’m taking some time to write and work on new songs. I’ll be recording in Nashville this Fall with Grammy winning producer/engineer Bil VornDick,
http://www.bilvorndick.com who has worked with Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, Ralph Stanley & Bob Dylan among others. Pretty thrilling for this small-town girl. I hope to have a new cd available in 2007.

Recording in Brooklyn - May 3, 2006
I've been laying down some tracks with the very talented John Simpson at his studio in Brooklyn, NY- working with him on songs for a new demo cd. It's wonderful to hear guitars & harmonies all come together!
